Founded in 1987, I. M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) is a rapidly expanding 8(a) company serving the Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal Government and commercial clients. In connection with its consulting work, IMSG developed an add-on application to the dtSearch Engine: I.M.Power CD-DVD/Web. IMSG's application can be adapted to provide a user interface for the CD/DVD that is identical to the web. The I.M.Power process allows for the CD to be built directly from the most current web content. The result is full offline navigation of Website content. "We originally developed this joint solution for one of our clients at the DOD that needed to mirror the same data, with an identical browser interface, on the Web and on CD," explains Joe Smith, Program Manager, IMSG. "The combination solution spanned both environments seamlessly."

Security was of paramount concern in IMSG's development of I.M.Power CD-DVD/Web for its initial DOD customer. "We had to develop the solution to implement on a completely 'no security risk' basis," said Mr. Smith. "The solution meets these requirements. The whole solution runs from a single .exe on the CD or DVD. It requires no Web server installation--and in fact, no installation at all." 

For searching on both the CD-DVD and the Website, IMSG chose to include the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine. "We used the dtSearch Engine and all of its extensive search capabilities," explained Brad Pfefferele, Senior Software Engineer with IMSG and Project Lead Engineer. "The dtSearch Engine’s capabilities are all captured and can be implemented on both CD-DVD and on the Website. With dtSearch, the resulting solution includes meta data search capabilities, resulting in full database-driven content capabilities."
